Since we started this blog, I started thinking more consciously about fashion styling. A lot of what I do, is based on my guts. The same goes for my cooking. I just mix and match by intuition, so often when friends ask me for the recipe, I have to think really hard about what just happened in the kitchen.
But this blog is here to inspire you to get the most out of your wardrobe. When you’re able to style a clothing piece in different ways, it makes you appreciate it more and it prevents you from buying (unnecessary new stuff). So it’s time to put some of my intuition into words.
This pink dress formed such a fun challenge, because it doesn’t easily mix and match. It’s a whole outfit in itself, that doesn’t need much else. But I found three different ways to style it:
1: Pink Festival
I love dressing up for festivals! It’s a great place to experiment with your looks, because of the dresscode: the weirder, the better. With that motto in mind, this outfit could be called moderate. There’s balance because of the white in my shoes, cap and turtleneck, and pink and blue in my cap and dress. I rolled up my sleeves, for a more casual look. The yellow pantyhose gives this outfit the nice little kick it needs.
2: Quirky Business
Ready for another day in the office! I was looking for ways to transform this dress in a more serious outfit and then I came across this blazer of my boyfriend. A surprisingly good combination! I kept the end of the dress sleeves visible, to keep the whole sparkling. I switched the pink belt of the dress with a black one, for more silhouette and a better match with the grey of the blazer. Glasses, high bun, scrunchy around it, and voilà! There’s your quirky business look.
3: Sporty Spice goes eighties
Adidas vests never go out of style. The sporty jacket makes an interesting contrast with the fifties silhouette of the dress and I love how the bright colors clash. The dark blue panty hose and turtleneck and pink sneakers and scrunchy keep the whole in balance. The only thing missing in this eighties look is hairspray, that’s a bridge too far for me;)
